The goal of the MM-DocTable project is to develop a general architecture and tools to support document engineering tasks performed on digital tabletops. In particular, we aim to provide seamless access to multimedia resources during document creation and editing, by integrating search services supporting different querying methods such as keyword search, query by example and query by sketch. The pen-and-touch-operated UI of the tabletop is designed so that the different retrieval operations are all seamlessly executable within the main document task without requiring tedious context switches.
The main role of ETH Zurich was to design and develop the presentation editing application used as a demonstrator. The main research focus was on the design of the pen-and-touch interface and the gestures used to execute the operations.
